A Victorian silver novelty vinaigrette modelled as a bag/satchel with belcher chain handle. Fully hallmarked to both sides of gilded interior, for Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham 1881. Hinged grill engraved with scroll and foliate design. Measures approx. 2.25cm x 3cm and weighs approx. 10.4g.

More Information

Overall excellent condition. Light surface scratching to the silver but no significant dents, splits, cracks, damage or repair. Hinge in good order. Snaps closed and opens easily but firmly. Chain in good order however there is a very slight gap and to both bales which also appear very slightly bent. This could be easily fixed with some fine snips and I'm probably being very picky with this description! Interior gilding good but may be a little worn. The piece would probably benefit from a proper clean.
